Height comparison chart, to true scale

Height comparison

Compare heights online: enter two heights and see people, characters, pets and objects side by side on one true-scale chart.

How to use the height comparison chart

SizeSide is a height comparison tool that makes the difference visible. You type the heights and the chart draws people, characters, pets and everyday objects side by side on one shared scale, so you can see the gap instead of working it out in your head. It runs in your browser on a phone or computer, it is free, and it needs no sign-up and no app.

  1. Enter the heightsType each height in feet and inches or in centimeters. The unit switch sits right under the Add person button.
  2. Pick gender and avatarEach person can be female, male or a child. Tap Edit under the avatar to change the look, outfit and color.
  3. Add more people or thingsUse Add person to bring in a friend, a partner or the whole family, or pick an animal or object such as a door, a bicycle or a giraffe. Up to 10 items fit on one chart.
  4. Save or shareSave the comparison as an image, or copy a link that rebuilds the same chart for anyone who opens it.

Comparing heights of two people, couples and male vs female

The most common use is a simple height comparison between two people. Enter, say, 5'6" and 6'0" and see them side by side. A sentence under the chart says exactly who is taller and by how many inches or centimeters. With three or more people, a short summary says who is tallest in the chart and how the first person compares with the others.

For a couple height comparison, or male vs female, pick the gender and avatar for each person and let the chart show the gap. There is no right or wrong difference; what matters is seeing it to scale. Many charts shared on social media start the axis at 4 feet to make a few inches look huge. SizeSide always starts at zero, so a 3-inch gap looks like 3 inches.

What you can compare

  • Two people, such as you and a partner, or a whole family or team lined up in a row.
  • People and objects, for example how tall 6 feet is next to a standard door.
  • Pets and animals, from a cat or a Labrador to a giraffe. Heights of animals and objects are typical values, and you can change any of them.

Character height comparison

People often want a character height comparison, such as an anime, game or movie character next to themselves. Add a person, type the character's name and the height listed by the official source, and compare. SizeSide does not include a database of fictional characters, and officially stated heights vary, so use the number you trust.

Height comparison in 3D, as a game, or as an app

SizeSide is a free online height visualizer: a true-scale 2D drawing, not 3D. That keeps it fast, light and easy to save as an image. It is a tool, not a game, though it is fun to line up a penguin, a giraffe and a door next to your friends. There is no app to install; add the page to your phone's home screen if you want it to open like one.

Japanese sites for comparing heights, known by the word 身長比較 (shinchō hikaku, "height comparison"), are popular because they line up many characters and objects on one scale. SizeSide follows the same idea.

Height and weight comparison

SizeSide compares height only, not weight. To relate the two, body mass index (BMI) is weight in pounds times 703, divided by height in inches squared. For example, 160 lb at 5'10" (70 inches) gives about 23.0. It is a general reference only and does not replace advice from a health professional.

Converting feet and inches to centimeters

One inch is exactly 2.54 centimeters, so a 6-inch difference is 15.24 cm. To convert a height, multiply the total number of inches by 2.54. For example, 5'4" is 64 inches, or 162.6 cm, and 6'0" is 72 inches, or 182.9 cm. The difference between them is 8 inches, or 20.3 cm.

Tips for an accurate height comparison

  • Measure barefoot against a wall, standing straight, with a flat book resting on top of your head.
  • Measure everyone at the same time of day. Many people are slightly taller in the morning than in the evening.
  • Use one unit for everyone, or let SizeSide convert for you.
  • Heels and shoes add height. Compare barefoot unless you want to compare people in their shoes.

Who uses SizeSide

People use SizeSide to settle a friendly debate, plan a photo, see how tall a child is next to a parent, check a character's height for a story or costume, or picture a piece of furniture next to a person.

Questions

How do I do a height comparison online?

Enter each height in feet and inches or in centimeters. The chart draws everyone side by side on the same scale and writes how much taller one is than the other. Tap Add person to compare more people.

Is this height comparison tool free?

Yes. It is a free height comparison website with no sign-up and no app to install. It runs in your browser on a phone or computer.

Is the height comparison chart to scale?

How do I convert feet and inches to centimeters?

Multiply the total number of inches by 2.54. For example, 5'10" is 70 inches, which is 177.8 cm. The height comparison chart page lists common heights in feet, inches and cm.

Can I compare more than two people?
